Max software tester Anniversary

A year ago, we were fortunate to have Max Kunkels join our team of testers. Max started working at spriteCloud during an uncertain time for our industry due to the pandemic. This got us especially curious to know how his first year went as he was meeting colleagues and clients through a screen rather than in person.

We thought Max’ first work anniversary at spriteCloud was the perfect occasion to find out about his experiences as a test engineer and what he is looking forward to in the year to come. Let’s dive in!

Congratulations Max! This being said, starting a new job in 2020 must have been quite particular, how has your first year at spriteCloud been?

Max: Thanks! It has been a really instructive year, from learning new techniques to working on really big projects it has definitely been an incredibly fun year!

You mentioned the new things you learnt since you’ve joined, could you tell us a bit more about that?

Max: First, I have been doing way more Test Automation work as that was something I really wanted to do when joining spriteCloud. Besides that, I had the great opportunity to do a performance and load testing project, which was something completely new for me.

Could you tell us what clients you have worked with and what kinds of projects they have been?

Max: As I came out of an agency, I sort of became an agency ‘expert’ within spriteCloud and I did a lot of agency work. That means fast-paced projects for sometimes huge clients!

All people who started a job recently can probably relate to this, but how was it to start a new job during a global pandemic for you?

Max: I’m a really social person, so starting within a pandemic and ‘getting to know’ new people through a screen wasn’t really for me. So hopefully restrictions will soon become less severe and I will actually get to know my colleagues in person 🙂

Now let’s move on to the positive aspects! Do you have highlights regarding this first year you would like to share with us?

Max: One of the biggest highlights must have been working for the Eurovision Village. Getting the chance to work on such a big project with a huge target audience is definitely something I look back at and think: ‘yeah that was pretty cool!’ Also doing the performance and load testing project and learning directly from Mark Barzilay, the CTO at spriteCloud, was something completely different and really fun to do.

And finally, what are you looking forward to during this new year?

Max: New year, new chances right? I am really excited to learn new things, expand my knowledge and be of an even greater value within spriteCloud. Also, I hope vrijMiBo’s (also known as the Friday afternoon drinks) are allowed as soon as possible!

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your first year at spriteCloud Max. We are super happy to have you as a part of our testers family and wish you a successful second year (with many vrijMiBo’s)!
